Senate Bill 440 - Sponsored by Governor Sisolak, provides an annual sales tax holiday for members of the Nevada National Guard and their families over the three-day Nevada Day holiday. Assembly Bill 485 - This legislation, part of the Governor’s Executive Budget, restructures the Division of Emergency Management from the Department of Public Safety to the Nevada National Guard. Assembly Bill 156 - Sponsored by Assembly Minority Leader Robin Titus, allows for the transfer of in-state college tuition waivers from a member of the Nevada National Guard to a member of their immediate family. “It is my hope that this legislation shows a small token of the endless appreciation we have for our members of the Nevada National Guard and their families,” said Governor Sisolak. Assembly Bill 270 - Sponsored by Assemblyman O’Neill, allows the Nevada Indian Commission to have access to funding necessary to preserve and maintain the Stewart Indian School Cultural Center and Museum. Assembly Bill 262 - Sponsored by Assemblywoman Anderson, this legislation will allow students of NSHE institutions who are members or descendants of one of our federally recognized tribal nations to have certain fees waived. Additionally, prohibits “sundowner sirens” in Nevada municipalities. Assembly Bill 88 - Sponsored by Assemblyman Watts, prohibits the use of any racially discriminatory name, logo, mascot or song, in Nevada’s K-12 schools.

In a subsequent bill signing event, he was joined by Nevada Adjutant General Maj. O’Neill, Assemblyman Howard Watts, and Assemblywoman Natha Anderson. He was joined by members of the Nevada Indian Commission and tribal elders, along with Assemblyman P.K. Today, Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak signed 140 pieces of legislation from 81st Session, including bills in support of Nevada’s Tribal Nations, the Nevada National Guard, and mental health resources.
